Power Crisis

An entry for Gamedev.js 2024!!

Experience Power Crisis, blending Monopoly and deck-building for a strategic challenge. Manage power, resources, and pollution to keep the city alive. Can you navigate the crisis and lead the city to survival?

How to Play

Goal:

Your goal is to sustain the city through each round. When you pass the start tile, it will check if current power meet the goal.

Tiles:

  • Resource Tile: You can collect resources from the tile if your storage is not depleted and also there are still resources on the tile.
  • Power Plant Tile: There are three power plant tiles on which you can build one power plant each. Beside, no matter what number you roll, you must stop at the power plant tile to perform actions.

Power plant cards:

  • Card Acquisition: You can discard and acquire new power plant cards at the beginning of each round. New cards become stronger as the round increases.
  • Build Cost : Most of power plants need cost POWER for construction. (display on the bottom left corner of a card)
  • Power Generation Cost: Some power plants require resources for electricity generation. (display on the top left corner of a card)
  • Extra Effects: The central part of the card displays extra effects. After constructing the power plant, these effects will activate when the conditions are met.

Pollution:

  • Generation: When generating power with coal, oil and natural gas, carbon emissions will increase. In the case of uranium, nuclear waste will be generated
  • Pollution check: When pollution is generated, dices roll check is required. If the check fails, some tiles will be locked, preventing resource collection. (You could build biomass power plant for purifying)

Fun and enjoyable  with potential for expansion! Reminded me of a simplified monopoly style board   & card game.
